Sometimes the things we shouldn’t want become exactly what we need…

Waitressing at a seedy strip club isn’t ideal, but it pays Sarah Adamson’s tuition. Her goal is to finish her master’s program and get a job that doesn’t involve tight skirts and groping hands. She doesn’t need distractions. Especially not the one that comes in the form of a hot-as-sin tattoo artist who works across the street from her apartment.

Kicked out at sixteen, and a high school dropout, Chris Zelter is familiar with wanting things he can’t have. His fractured life has never been easy. As the product of someone else’s bad decisions, he knows exactly what happens when the wrong person controls your marionette strings. Now an accomplished tattoo artist in a renowned studio in Chicago, Chris has it together.

Mostly.

Apart from his infatuation with Sarah. She’s way out of his league, and Chris knows it.
But he’s willing to be her bad decision. At least for now.

If you have read the Clipped Wings series by Helena Hunting, then you know what to expect.

If you’ve only read her Pucked series, then you need put on your big girl panties and brace yourself.

Fractures in Ink is an amazing story that had my heart hurting in my chest. In fact I still have some kind of palpitations going on.

It took me twice as long to read it as it normally would have and that’s because I was so afraid to keep reading for fear of experiencing what I felt in my soul was coming. So I would read a chapter or two and then do something else for maybe half an hour, all the while ruminating on reasonable outcomes for Chris and Sarah that wouldn’t end up breaking my heart.

Keeping her head down, she whispered, “I made a mistake.”

The words hit me like bullets. Her tone told me they came with a side of pain that was more emotional than physical.

She lifted our connected hands and rubbed my knuckles across her cheek. They came away damp. “I made a really big mistake.”

She unfurled my fingers and clambered into my lap. I felt the warm press of her lips against my neck, along with a wild tremor that ran though her body.

I could feel her words against my skin, but they were too muffled to hear. At least they were until her mouth started traveling across my neck. Then their clarity made the hairs on the back of my neck prickle.

Fractures in Ink is a highly emotional tale of love and trust and I survived this utterly captivating tale with my heart intact.

We also get some glimpses of Haden *siiiiigh* and Tenley that boosts my love of these pages to another level.

I can definitely recommend this one if you like ‘all the feelings’ in your books.
