Neda’s 5 Star Review for Breakable (Contours of the Heart 2) by Tammara Webber

Breakable lo res

Synopsis 1

He was lost and alone. Then he found her.
And the future seemed more fragile than ever.

As a child, Landon Lucas Maxfield believed his life was perfect and looked forward to a future filled with promise — until tragedy tore his family apart and made him doubt everything he ever believed.

All he wanted was to leave the past behind. When he met Jacqueline Wallace, his desire to be everything she needed came so easy…

As easy as it could be for a man who learned that the soul is breakable and that everything you hoped for could be ripped away in a heartbeat

Nedas Review 1

There is a book I read over two years ago called Easy by Tammara Webber. From the first pages I knew I had embarked on something so special. This was a book that grabbed on to me and even now, years later I still love it so much and consider it a favourite. The reason I loved this book so much is simple, Ms. Webber has this amazing way of exposing pain with such sweet volunerabilty and intelligence that one cannot help be captivated by every word that she pens. So it is not surprising that when I found out that Breakable (Lucas’ story) was being written I was over the moon excited.  In my opinion Lucas Maxfield is one of the best book boyfriends to have ever been written. There is something beautiful in a young man who understands what a man is and Lucas is all man. So much so that I think he has personally ruined me for any real life males. Sorry guys, blame Tammara Webber. We all know I write personal reviews, I can’t help it because what is beautiful about words to me is the ability for them to impact the reader at a much deeper level. So here is another novel that hit my heart and my words will be heartfelt.
If you read Easy (and if you haven’t get on it as soon as possible, it’s beautiful) then you know that it’s a story that deals with a very serious subject matter, that of sexual assault.   In Easy we got Jacqueine’s story, and I personally always felt like there was more. I think many of Tammara’s fans did too because she got question after question asking the same thing, “will there be a book 2.”. Time and again she would say its a stand alone but I hoped that would change because as a reader I felt there was more there. Then when she announced Breakable (Easy told in the point of view of Lucas) I became elated.   For personally I always wanted to know what Lucas thought how he became.  Not only that I wanted to know about Landon. I wanted to know about before and now. Lucas had gone through such a traumatic thing in his life and yes even though it was brought about and many facets resolved in Easy I still wanted to know what his thoughts and feelings were in his own words.
Breakable tells Lucas’ story in two parts because in reality after the tragedy that rocked his life he changed. The story is told through the voice of Landon and Lucas. I personally loved this. Through Landon the reader gets a real understanding how a transformation took over a young boy and turned him into the man that he is.   Landon broke my heart, as I read his chapters in the novel I would weep non stop and feel this heavy burden in my heart.  I could feel for him in every way. His pain over losing a beacon in his life, his estranged relationship with his father, his struggles to self preserve in an environment that constantly held him down.  I wanted to wrape my arms around him and tell him that everything would be ok, just breath Landon cause it isn’t your fault.
Lucas…Lucas…Lucas… Oh how I love you, let me count the ways. I love your protective nature, your gentle heart, your patients, your brilliance, your sensitive spirit, your artistic talent, your old school charm, your beautiful  soul.  Lucas has always been a top book boyfriend for me but after Breakable he has actually become my number one. He is perfect in every way.  I read a lot of romance novels and I love many a book boyfriend but Lucas is something special.  There is something sweet about him.  He is a man who understands what matters in the world. He knows what a man should be.  I saw a quote a while back and when I saw it I was reading Breakable, and as I read these words Lucas crashed into my mind.
Now I want to share something Tammara wrote in her acknowledgments but first I want to say this.  I am a big fan of her talent.  Her words are like a quiet rain that thunders in a readers heart.  I always know I am going to get the highest quality of work when I crack open one of her books. I also know I am going to get a book that is written with love because I honestly don’t believe she is capable of anything less.   So Tammara thank you for your words. Thank you for writing a novel that transcends. And most of all thank  you for this series because I truely believe these novels are something that will help many, and as you said in your acknowledgments that touched me so ” Every day that you survive, you are telling that event, that person, that illness, that memory: YOU DO NOT DEFINE ME. keep on”.   I agree with this whole heartedly.  Pain will always be there but by living by challenging by educating ourselves by moving on and rising above we win.
I am not going to put quotes in this review. I honestly feel like this book will be personal to any reader. It’s a novel about struggle and the emmence capacity human have for love even when faced with the greatest adversary.  We are strong we are beautiful.  But I do want to share a few songs that reminded me of this book.
I give Breakable by Tammara Webber 5 stars. If you will read only one book this year let it be this one.
