Synopsis 1

As seen in the July 2015 issue of Glamour Magazine UK!

A reclusive author… Delia Sinclair is desperate to hit a looming deadline. With only two weeks to go before her manuscript is due, she heads to a remote cabin in the Smoky Mountains with no internet or cell service.

An ex-military security specialist… Blaine West is halfway around the world when he gets a frantic message from his childhood sweetheart. She needs to lay low for awhile so he puts her in touch with someone who can help her until he can get back to town.

A dead body… When Blaine arrives at the hotel where they were supposed to meet, he learns the body of a local author was discovered that morning but there’s no sign of his old flame.

And a case of mistaken identity… Delia returns home completely unaware that the police believe she’s been murdered. With Delia alive and his ex still missing, Blaine has the skills and connections to find out exactly what happened and keep Delia safe.

Lead to a passion that burns out of control.

Excerpt 1

My jaw almost dropped open as I got my first good look at him. If I had to conjure up an image of an intruder, he was the last thing I would come up with on my own. On the other hand, if I was putting pen to paper and building a character description for one of my heroes, he’d fit perfectly. He had tall, dark, and dangerous down to a tee. His dark brown hair was cut short, almost in a military style, but a tad longer. My fingers practically twitched with the desire to run them over his head to see if it would feel bristly or soft against my palm. Piercing blue eyes were a startling contrast to his tanned skin and the ridiculously long eyelashes framing them were the only feminine thing about him, though it didn’t do much to soften the brutal masculinity of his face.
My eyes lowered, drifting down his body. His dark blue Henley stretched taught across his chest with the sleeves pushed up mid-arm. There was no wonder why his arms had felt so strong around me. If I tried to wrap both my hands around his bicep, I wasn’t sure they would touch.
Muscular thighs strained against the material of his jeans and he finished off the look with black military-style boots that looked like they had to be a size thirteen, at least. At the inappropriate thought that jumped into my head about what else his shoe size might mean, I jerked my gaze back up guiltily. Damn, but this guy was potent. He’d just broken into my house and subdued me like it was nothing, yet here I was, checking him out and wondering about the size of his dick.

EXTRA GOODNESS

5 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Identity Crisis:
  • It was supposed to be a standalone book, but I fell in love with Brody & Damian so now they’ll both get books of their own.
  • The idea behind Identity Crisis came to me in the middle of the night several years ago. Luckily, I had a notebook beside the bed and jotted down a note to myself or I might never have written the book.
  • Brody’s name was originally Scott. Then I decided he needed a name which better suited him as I got to know him better.
  • Damian’s name was originally Brock. Once I changed his brother’s name, I had to change his too or else all three male characters would have started with the letter B. It was one B name too many for me.
  • I love the title Identity Crisis. I don’t think I would have been able to come up with another title as good of a fit as this one. I owe Tijan big-time for suggesting it during a Facebook chat.

I fully admit that the cover of this book snagged my attention and after reading the synopsis I was hooked. I dived in expecting a good read, but what I got was a fast paced storyline that kept me turning the pages faster and faster and at one point holding my breath, till I was finished.

If you like romantic suspense then you should be reading this book. Plain and simple. The author has done a fantastic job of blending mystery, humour and romance into book that you won’t want to put down.

You will quickly fall for the characters Blaine and Delia like I did. It’s an ex-SEAL and an author as a paring, how could you not fall for that combination? Add in smoking hot chemistry and Blaine going all alpha on her ass and things get really hot.

“On your knees.” Her lips curved slightly at my command. “My knees?” “You heard me,” I rasped, rolling onto my back and patting my chest. “You’ll be more comfortable up here while I lick and suck and tease you until you’re coming on my tongue.”

Throw in some nasty bad guys, a dead body or two, Blaine’s best friend Brody (who I absolutely loved) and about 10% of the book where you will be holding your breath and an ending that left me grinning from ear to ear and I was given a reminder of why I read romantic suspense books.

“My need to protect you superseded my training. I couldn’t look at you as a pawn. Not when you’re my queen—the most powerful piece on the board.”

I know I haven’t talked a lot about the story or characters, but its very hard to without giving things away.  I had actually written a couple of different version of this review but realised I was giving away to much. This is a book that needs to be experienced and left to unfold as the story does. Because just when you think you know what’s coming, bam you don’t.

This was the first book by this author for me and it won’t be the last.  She has shown me why I really need to read more of this genre.

I absolutely adore reading – always have and always will. My friends growing up used to tease me when I would trail after them, trying to read and walk at the same time. If I have downtime, odds are you will find me reading or writing. I am the mother of two wonderful sons who have inspired me to chase my dream of being an author. I want them to learn from me that you can live your dream as long as you are willing to work for it. When I told my mom that my new year’s resolution was to self-publish a book in 2013, she pretty much told me “About time!”
