Synopsis 1

From NEW YORK TIMES & USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton, known for her “deliciously addictive” (The Book Vixen) novels, this Cocktail series novella reunites readers with Caroline and Simon from the wildly successful Wallbanger.Simon and Caroline are back for another round of baking, banging, and big life changes. Settling in, but never settling down, Caroline has finally struck a balance between the professional and the personal. As one of the top interior designers in San Francisco, she travels all over Northern California between nook time with Simon.Perpetual globetrotter Simon has cut his frequent flyer miles in half over the last year, preferring to balance his professional and personal life, as well. The next step in their lives seems preordained—toasts, veils, and the aisle of rose petals. But when an accident on a photo shoot in Southeast Asia brings Caroline the most terrifying phone call she could ever imagine, she has to ask whether “till death do us part” is a more realistic prospect than faces most couples.

It’s been a grand adventure, and Caroline and Simon wouldn’t go out without the best surprise ending ever. One part sexy, one part laughter, a dash of exotic locales, and one pink nightie, mixed with passion, and you’ve got Last Call. Served with a side of Clive.

 Rachels Review

Alice Clayton delivers the final book in the Cocktail series with Last Call and it certainly goes out with a bang. We get to say good bye to Simon and Caroline and all their friends who we have come to love over the course of five books. Mimi, Ryan, Sophie, Neil, Viv, Clark, Jillian, Benjamin, Chloe, Lucas and of course Clive and his Harem.

Though this is a must re-read series for me, I will still miss these characters. Silly right? I fell in love with a Wallbanging guy and a Pink Nightie Girl a long time ago and it’s both a sad and happy occasion to see their storyline come to a close.

But all good things must come to an end and the author will have you laughing, squealing, gasping, awing, tearing up, more squealing, smiling and finishing the book with a huge happy grin on your face.

I put the book down and immediately was ready to pick it back up and start again. I loved it, as you will no doubt see as I progress. Sorry if I am a bit fangirly but I love this series and this author.

Okay, enough rambling, onto the book.

With Last Call we get it all. Three weddings, a baby, a huge scare, some nook love, Simon and Caroline being well, young and in love and much, much more.

Yes you read that right, three weddings! It starts with Mimi’s wedding to Ryan and ends with a one of a kind wedding for our main couple. I know it may come off as a spoiler, but come on, we all knew it was going to happen. The fun part was going to be how they got there.

You realize you own me, don’t you, Nightie Girl?”

There is also a baby added to the mix in the form of Sophie and Neil. When Sophie goes in to labour, its’ hilarious. I had tears from laughing so hard, which quickly changed to awwws when Simon holds the baby. My ovaries quivered a bit at that. Watch for when both Simon and Neil go into panic mode when the baby cries, priceless.

A wedding and a baby leads our favourite couple to the next chapter in their story and how it happens is classic Simon and Caroline. Man I love these two.

I slipped my jeans down, pushing my panties along with them. I must have been going too slowly, because he suddenly yanked them the rest of the way down, pushing me harder against the wall. I loved sweet and slow Wallbanger, but I loved Wallbanger Wallbanger the best!

When work and the adventure that goes along it for Simon calls, he sets off on a trip and leaves Caroline to deal with the last of the wedding details. But when that dreaded call comes that Simon has been badly hurt, Caroline drops everything to rush to his side. I admit to being worried over Simon’s fate, which I shouldn’t have been. I wanted to hug Caroline so bad. She really showed what she was made of during this time. Plus reading a loopy Simon and her reactions was a crack up.

After a recovery period and a surprise that will have you squealing (you can guess what it is), our dynamic duo make it home and in true Caroline and Simon fashion, they make the ultimate commitment in their own special way and let me tell you, it will have you grinning like a fool. I know I did.

As we say farewell to Simon, Caroline and friends, I have to say a big thank you to Alice Clayton who gave us these wonderful characters and the laughs, heart ache and good times that went along with them all. I have loved every page and look forward to another series I can add to my keeper shelf.

I will leave you with the following, classic Simon and Caroline.

“You’re really going to want to hold on for this one, Nightie Girl.” And he was so very right. Thump. “Oh, God.” Thump thump. “Oh, God.”
